Some Green Sites in Toms River for Keeping Earth Day in Mind

What are your favorite eco-friendly escapes?

If you are looking for an eco-friendly escape in Toms River, we have some ideas:

Cattus Island County Park. It’s a natural haven, with hundreds of pristine acres. Even some of the trails are lined with mulch made from recycled Christmas trees or crushed shells.

The Ocean County Library. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – the library is reducing and reusing, definitely, when you consider patrons borrow items instead of buying their own.

Book Trader, Hooper Avenue. If you must have your own copy, at least you don’t have to buy new. Buy used at Book Trader, for a wealth of your favorite paperbacks whether fiction or non-fiction. Similarly, the giant Second Time Around thrift store on Industrial Way is another shining example of how to extend the life items.

Bachelor Street. The quaint building where Arlene’s Costumes, Natural Food General Store, and an Apothecary all offer some great eco-friendly options. Arlene’s is another example of: why buy when you can rent? And the general store and apothecary stock some of the greenest products around.

Ortley Beach. The dunes are maintained by a troop of volunteers who plant dune grass annually, protecting the ecosystem and also the shoreline from erosion. The ocean front beach is a great example of the community coming together to preserve natural resources.
