Three Ortley Streets Slated for Repaving

$343,000 contract to Earle Asphalt

Three streets in Ortley Beach will get a new blacktop, with a $343,000 overlay project awarded to Earle Asphalt this month.

The Toms River Township Council approved the contract at its March 29 meeting, which was the lowest bidder by several thousand dollars, said Township Administrator Paul Shives.

The streets slated for paving this quarter will be the entire lengths of Harding, Coolidge and Ocean Terrace.

Director of Public Works Lou Amoruso said the work is part of a larger project to repave Ortley Beach, with streets selected after the utility companies have completed their work, upgrading water mains.

“Once they are done, we repave,” Amoruso said. “The areas need repaving regardless but we wait until the utilities are done and then do the overlay work.”

In the previous round of overlay, six streets were complete.
