Toms River Ranked One of the Most Boring Towns in N.J.

Real estate site says Toms River lacks unique restaurants, young population

Toms River is boring, according to the real estate site Movoto.

Technically, the site ranked Toms River the fifth most boring town in New Jersey in a report on its website released on Friday.

According to Movoto, Toms River – and nine other towns – made the list based on a number of factors, or lack thereof. The site's rankings took into account such factors as nightlife per capita, live music venues, life options (defined as parks and activities), fast food restaurants (the fewer the better) and the percentage of young residents between the ages of 18 and 34.

"We’re not saying these are bad places or that we hate the people there," the report said. "We’re just saying they’re not exactly thrilling for the young or young at heart. We know New Jersey folks have pride, and we doubt our ranking will be enough to put a dent in that hometown spirit."

Toms River, according to the report, lost points due to an underwhelming number of unique restaurants compared to fast food or chain restaurants, as well as the fact that only 18 percent of the population is young.

Do you agree? Or is the survey totally off the mark?

At the very least, Toms River isn't first on the list. That "honor" went to Pleasantville, in Atlantic County, known for its crime issues and a lack of development along its highways.
