County Grants Will Fund Toms River Events

Now in its 23rd year, the county's Matching Tourism Grant Program will provide 51 grants to municipalities and non-profit organizations to help promote tourism events throughout the county.

Ocean County expects to distribute grants totaling $59,845, according to Fred Schneeweiss, chairperson of the Ocean County Tourism Advisory Council.

Grants awarded for Toms River area include:

• Ancient Order of Hibernians, Irish Festival, $1,000;
• Berkeley Barracudas Softball League, Barracudas Fastball Pitch, $1,000;
• Berkeley Township Recreation, Community Pride Day, $1,000;
• Borough of Pine Beach, 5K & Riverside Run, $1,125;
• Christ Episcopal Church, Celtic Festival, $1,030;
• Friends of Island Beach State Park, 2011 Visitors Guide, $1,500;
• Garden State Philharmonic, Promotional Brochure, $1,500;
• Jersey Shore Boy Scouts, Camporee, $1,100;
• Kiwanis Daybreak Club, River to Bay 5K, $1,030;
• NJ Maritime Museum, Special Events, $1,125;
• Ocean County Artists Guild, Art at the Shore, $1,500;
• Ocean County Board of Agriculture, Ocean County Fair, $1,030;
• Ocean County Chapter S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A., Oceanaires Theater Performance, $1,100;
• Ocean County Historical Society, Rack Cards & Promotional, $1,000;
