Fourth of July Event Roundup: Free Concerts and More

Weekend events include firework extravaganzas, free concerts and more.

This weekend is sure to be jam packed with fireworks that drive your dogs crazy and barbeques that will make you not want to eat for a few days, but here are a few other events that can help you enjoy your 4th of July weekend in this week’s Weekend Preview.

1. Your Choice of Free Entertainment

The summer series begins with a patriotic July 4 kickoff. The 63rd Army Band performs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Then the Garden State Philharmonic performs at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and the Toms River Municipal Band performs on Monday July 4 at 7:30 p.m. All three concerts are being held at the Ocean County Library.

On Sunday, July 3, Lavallette will host an Independence Patriotic Band Concert and fireworks.  The event is being held at Bay Blvd. & Philadelphia Ave.  The concert begins at 8 p.m. 

Manchester will be the host of a 4th of July Celebration as it hosts the Concert Fest 2011: Independence Day Celebration. It will begin at 6pm at Harry Wright Lake, Lake Rd., Manchester. Enjoy live music by Nicholas King and Fabulous Grease Band.

2. The annual July 4 Car show will take place at Lakehurst Elementary School beginning at 9 a.m. The car show will have a parade starting at 11 a.m. and fireworks at dusk. It will also include vintage cars, a Hindenburg display, a silent auction, and a 50/50 raffle.

3. Fireworks - In addition to your neighborhood fireworks, here are some other firework displays.

July 3 – Lavallette fireworks. Bay Blvd. & Philadelphia Ave at 8pm.

July 4 – Beachwood/Toms River – Fireworks along the river start at dusk, beachfront in Beachwood. They are visible along the riverbanks.

July 4 – Seaside Heights – Begin at 9:30 p.m. and are viewable from anywhere on the boardwalk. Fireworks will then take place every Wednesday at 9:30 p.m.
