Month-Long Pinelands Exhibit Celebrated with Saturday Reception

The "Facets of the Pinelands" exhibit runs through April at Toms River's Ocean County Library branch

As part of a month-long celebration of New Jersey's Pine Barrens in April, Toms River's Ocean County Library branch will host a Pinelands Day celebration this weekend.

The library is hosting the "Facets of the Pinelands" exhibit presented by the Pinelands Photography Group all month. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, the Friends of the Toms River branch will hold their Pinelands Day celebration, featuring crafts, demonstrations and presentations by county organizations.

A full schedule of Pinelands Day events can be found on the library's website here.

The ongoing photography exhibit features the works of 17 photographers who specialize in documenting the Pine Barrens. Of those participating, nearly half are Ocean County residents and all are members of the nonprofit Pinelands Preservation Alliance, according to the library.

"To the best of our knowledge, this may be the largest Pinelands photography exhibit done in many years, if ever," said the group's exhibit coordinator Ann-Marie Woods in a statement. "It’s very exciting."

The exhibit, which can be viewed at no cost to the public, is on display in the McConnell and second floor galleries through April 30.

"The Pinelands Photography Group welcomes photographers of all ages and skill levels," Woods said. "We are proud to have members ranging from students to retirees represented in this exhibit."

Registration for the Pinelands Day celebration is encouraged and can be completed online or by calling 732-349-6200.
