Seaside Heights, Others To Benefit From Hurricane Fundraiser

Fundraiser for Sandy-Hit Schools at Martell's March 2

A fundraiser for two schools - one in Seaside Heights - and Shore 2 Recover will be held from 5 p.m. to midnight March 2 at Martell's on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk.

The admission fee of $25, for non-stop live music and complimentary dinner buffet, will be donated as follows: $20 to Hugh J. Boyd Elementary School in Seaside Heights and Memorial School in Union Beach and $5 to Shore2Recover’s rebuild program.

Shore 2 Recover was founded by Toni Pecunia, a resident of Point Pleasant whose home was partially-flooded by the storm, according to the organization's website. The organization has donated funds to various needs, including helping Sandy-impacted families and to St. Paul's kitchen in Bay Head that has been feeding free, hot meals to affected families since shortly after Sandy struck.

Pecunia started the organization "as a way to give back to the community and the many people and groups who rushed to assist the storm-ravaged shore," the website says. The live bands include: Under Pressure; The Mike Dalton Band; Undisputed; The E Street Shuffle; The Replicants; Punch Bully and The Bell Bottom Blues.

Tickets are available at Martell's or purchase online at the Shore 2 Recover website.

Now if this happened in an area full of minorities, they scream racism and the money pours in...

Ditto!!! I agree where is all the money is going except to fill the wrong people's pockets. I know a lot of people that were affected not one person got a dime out of all the donations all over the country, amazing scam artists all of them!!. The exception was the Bucket Brigade, very nice generous people. Charities are scams; I will never give another dime. I would rather hand some poor schmuck hauling out soaked sheetrock the money in person than trust an organization to divvy out money on behalf of generous and trusting people!

So where are those millions of $$$$ from Bruce and the others?

"Bob" Armstrong for Ocean County Sheriff in 2013 Linda, FYI, the AARP Foundation raised 1.5 million dollars for Superstorm Sandy, and guess which Toms River "charity" got $50,000. It happens to be the same "charity" that our infamous Michael Ritacco was Vice President. We all know that Ritcco's motto was "charity begins at home". WWW.ARMSTRONG4SHERIFF.COM

I agree! Where does the money go? The Bucket Brigade Is the only one there for us in Ortley and TR threw them out of an empty building. Now they are outside in this weather, but still there to help.

I agree..I wont even buy one of those "restore the shore" shirts because I have very little confidence that any of my money will go to a family in need. You are better off not donating to any of these charities and just reaching out directly to a family in need and help them.
