Minor Injuries In Toms River School Bus Accident

Toms River Police are on the scene of a two vehicle accident that occurred just before 2 p.m. on Monday at Old Freehold Road and Imperato Court.

A Toms River Regional School Bus was traveling southbound on Old Freehold Road when it struck the rear of a 2004 Pontiac, said Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.

Two students on the bus from Toms River Intermediate School were taken to Community Medical Center for minor injuries, said Mastronardy.

The driver of the Pontiac and two passengers were also transported to Community Medical Center for minor injuries.

Toms River school authorities were on scene to arrange transportation for the 18 students on the bus who were not injured, the chief said.

Old Freehold Road was closed for an hour between Chestnut Street and Walnut Street.

The accident is being investigated by Traffic Safety officer Mark Nater and Sergeant Chris Dudzik.
