Community Medical Center Blood Drive

Community Medical Center is teaming up with the American Red Cross to hold a Blood Drive on Wednesday, May 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the hospital’s Auditorium located at 99 Highway 37 West. Blood donors will have their parking tickets validated for free parking.

Donors are now eligible to earn rewards points and redeem them for gift certificates. It is a new promotion and details are available at www.redcrossblood.org/redcellrewards. In addition, all donors are eligible to win prizes.

Donating blood is a simple, selfless gift of life that helps ensure a sustained and secure blood supply for all people. While most people expect blood to be available if they should ever need it, only a fraction of those who can give blood really do. Most adults can give blood. According to the American Red Cross’ general guidelines for donation, a person must be in good general health, be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and not have donated blood in the last 56 days.

Blood is always needed and it is important for those who can donate to do so. Donated blood is distributed to hospitals to help patients who have experienced a disaster, an accident, trauma, surgery or diseases such as cancer.
