Restaurants Donating to Sandy Relief Wednesday

National Dine Out Day is Wednesday, June 19 at many local restaurants

On Wednesday, participating restaurants nationwide will donate a percentage of their sales to Superstorm Sandy relief as part of National Dine Out Day.

The money raised will benefit the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund, chaired by First Lady Mary Pat Christie.

So far, the fund has raised $34 million from over 28,000 donors worldwide in addition to distributing 51 grants totaling $11 million to help families, business, and communities rebuild, according to organizers.

But many affected by the storm still need help.

"There is still much work to be done and the fund aims to make a sustainable, long-term impact and focuses on programs that address the unmet needs of New Jersey communities," reads a statement by the organization. "National Dine Out Day is a great way for restaurants and their patrons to support these continuing efforts."

Participating restaurants can choose various funding options for their sales on Wednesday, June 19, according to the organization.

In Toms River, diners at the following restaurants will have a percentage of their checks donated to the fund:

  • Auntie Anne's, Ocean County Mall, 1201 Hooper Ave.
  • Friendlys, 1210 Hooper Ave.
  • Friendlys, 981 Route 37 West
  • TGI Fridays, 1279 Hooper Ave.
Numerous other Ocean County restaurants are on the complete list, which can be found here
