Staples to Move into New Dover Mall Building by Late Fall

Spokeswoman says impact on customers throughout construction is minimal

Loyal Staples customers who continue to brave the deep construction at can expect to escape the rubble by late fall, according to a Staples corporate spokeswoman.

“Every day we’re seeing more of the new building being completed,” said Carrie McElwee, “and we cannot wait for the opportunity to serve our customers in the new facility.”

The property, which is owned by the D'Onofrio family and Dan-D Inc., started undergoing major changes in early February, with the of the shut down Bradlees, the movie theater, furniture store, ShopRite and, lastly, Jason’s Furniture.

Staples has remained open throughout construction, however McElwee said the office-supplies store anticipates moving in the fall.

Throughout the move, McElwee said added computer workstations to the store as an additional service to its customers, and she said the store has enough parking spots to accommodate the back-to-school rush.

However, parking at the mall is significantly less than before construction began. The previous lot is filled with construction debris or equipment, and much of the area is blocked off by fencing.

Per company policy, McElwee said Staples would not comment on the construction’s impact on the store’s sales.

The new Dover Mall, which will be 40,000 square feet in size with five self-standing structures, will include the new building, a Spirits Liquors — which more than a decade ago operated in the rear of the site next to the former Shoprite — will now be in the front of the property in the Oak Warehouse spot, a ShopRite near the back and a series of tenants will line the Route 166 side.
