Tuesday Hiring Fair Aims to Pair Veterans with Sandy Recovery Jobs

American Legion-sponsored event runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday in Toms River

A military-focused job fair aiming to staff "quick-fill" positions available in the wake of Hurricane Sandy is scheduled for Tuesday morning in Toms River.

The free "Hiring Our Heroes" event, being held by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and several state and federal agencies including the American Legion, invites veterans, active duty military, National Guard and reserve members and military spouses to the George P. Vanderveer American Legion Post 129, 2025 Church Rd. in Toms River from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The primary focus of the fair is to find applicants to meet the needs of employers dealing with rebuilding following Sandy's devastation in New Jersey. Employers specializing in building, construction, inspection, clean-up and hauling, and demolition were recruited for the fair, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
