How to 'Heart' Island Beach State Park

What does Island Beach State Park in the South Seaside Park section of Berkeley Township, NJ have in common with Yosemite National Park in California, Garden of the Gods in Colorado, and Valley Forge National Historical Park in Pennsylvania? It is one of 550 parks nationwide that will benefit from Macy’s “Heart Your Park” campaign.

In partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), the national nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of community parks, recreation and conservation, Macy’s stores across the country have each selected a local park or green space in their community to support through the program.

During the month of March, customers at the Macy’s stores in Toms River and Freehold can donate $1 or more at the register to Island Beach State Park with 100 percent of the donations benefiting Island Beach State Park. Additionally, Macy’s will match the total customer donation across all stores, dollar for dollar, up to $250,000 in total.

The Island Beach State Park Naturalist page on Facebook is urging park users to help IBSP “spread the word and send a note regarding the Macy’s program to everyone you can on an social media site, email, etc. We NEED your help getting the word out.”

The page stresses that the money raised through the Macy’s “Heart Your Park” program will be used by Island Beach to support the Interpretive Program, lifeguards, and park services.

Island Beach is one of 23 parks in New Jersey in the program. Allaire State Park was also selected and those who would like to donate to Allaire may do so by shopping and making a donation to Macy’s in Eatontown.
