Afternoon Power Outage Reported

Fewer than 500 customers in Toms River, Brick and Jackson affected

A reported brown out affected fewer than 500 Jersey Central Power and Light customers in Toms River, Brick and Jackson, said the utility this afternoon.

JCP&L provided a 3:34 p.m. update, and a second update at 4:11 p.m. noted power to Brick homes had been restored but that customers in Toms River and Jackson were still affected.

The utility also reported fewer than 500 customers in Chester Township in Morris County, Andover and Newton in Sussex County and Neshanic Station in Somerset County were without power as of 3:34 p.m.

A call placed to JCP&L said power is estimated to be restored around 5 p.m.

Affected areas are the Jackson and Toms River border, Whitesville north of Route 70.
