Fire crews still hitting hot spots ; medevac called for unknown trauma

Nineteen and a half hours after the blaze first started on the Seaside Park boardwalk, at the Funtown Park and Arcade, crews continued dousing the businesses along the boardwalk.

At about 9:40 a.m., two medevac helicopters were called in to respond to an unknown trauma, according to scanner reports.

Al Della Fave, of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, said that the helicopters brought three people "assigned to Seaside Park" response, to area hospitals. The three were sitting in a "military type vehicle," heading down the Boulevard near O Street, when a bench they were sitting on in the vehicle became detached, and sent the three falling to the ground.

State police, as well as Ocean County emergency management officials patrolled the blocks surrounding the boardwalk, which were blocked off with yellow police limes, fielding questions from curious onlookers as well as the numerous journalists who have descended upon Seaside Park this morning.

About 100 firefighters remained onsite this morning, which was about a quarter of those who initially responded last night.

There were at least 20 television and radio vans on scene this morning.

Meanwhile, business owners took to Facebook and other social media to update fans of their businesses about their condition. From outside, it was obvious that some businesses, like Three Brothers Pizza, were gutted.

Press conferences are being held throughout the morning, including one with Gov. Chris Christie at 10:30 am.
