From Toms River to the Giants Ticker-Tape Parade

Manhattan event starts at 11 a.m., here's how to get there

The confetti will be flying in Manhattan to celebrate the New York Giants' Super Bowl . The fun starts at 11 a.m., and if you plan on going, here's how to make the trip from .

Mass transit is the way to go, but which train or bus will you have to hop on to make it to the parade on time?

At 11 a.m. Tuesday, the parade kicks off at Battery Place and Washington Street, and then continues northbound up the Canyon of Heroes to Worth Street, followed by a ceremony at City Hall Plaza.

• Option One is bus out of Toms River and then the A train plus a little walking.

The latest bus you could take is the 8:15 a.m. bus from the Toms River Park & Ride.  Hop on Bus No. 137, which will arrive at the Port Authority Bus Terminal by 9:50 a.m.

Use the 42 Street side to get to the subway, where you'd hop on the A train at 10:03 a.m. You'll arrive at the Broadway-Nassau Street stop at 10:16 a.m., and from there walk four blocks down Broadway toward Washington.

There's earlier bus rides departing to NYC out of Toms River, if you hope to beat the rush.

• You can also take the train out of Point Pleasant Beach, the nearest train station besides Bay Head.

The 7:39 a.m. train out of Point Pleasant Beach will make for a 8:18 a.m. departure from the Long Branch transfer, and from there it's a 9:36 a.m. arrival in Newark Penn Station. The PATH train to the World Trade Center stop is the next step, and after a half mile walk you'll be at Battery and Washington.

In expectation of the volume, NJ Transit is offering extra bus service on 18 routes in New Jersey. There will also be "customer service ambassadors" at Newark Penn Station and Hoboken Terminal tomorrow to accommodate Giants fans.

If you want to pick up the parade somewhere else on the route, other than the starting point at Battery and Washington, NJ Transit offered some additional help with your itinerary.

Two of my co-workers are "calling in sick" tomorrow. The boss got wind of it and unbeknownst to them, they're gonna be fired Wednesday. Long story short...don't blab.
