Hospital Donates Thousands of Pounds of Food to Local Charities
Community Medical Center employees have participated in drive for seven years
For the past seven years, Community Medical Center employees and members of the Medical Staff have participated in Healthcare Harvest, the hospital’s annual food drive founded by Thomas Yanisko, Administrative Director for Hospitality Services.
This year the staff reached a milestone of donating over 100,000 pounds of food. The cumulative total is 107,046 pounds of food collected over the past seven years. This year alone, employees and members of the Medical Staff donated 18,587 pounds of food to those in need in Ocean County.
“I am so proud of our employees and the Medical Staff,” said Stephanie L. Bloom, President and Chief Executive Officer, Community Medical Center. “Their altruistic spirit is outstanding and I am grateful to work alongside them. Under the leadership of Tom Yanisko, they have proved once again why we are CMC Strong,” she added.
Healthcare Harvest is the hospital’s annual food drive which is held at this time of year to coincide with the end of the school year. Since so many area children benefit from school meal programs, the need for additional food during the summer months is especially great. The food has been donated to area food banks including Ocean County Hunger Relief, FoodBank of Ocean & Monmouth County and the Salvation Army.
