Kinks, Otis Redding, Moody Blues: Unearthing Some Music Video Dinosaurs at Library Event
Special event shows collector's library of classics and oddities on Scopitone and French TV formats
MTV (that's the Music Television channel) may not play that many videos, but if you long for those days spent watching your favorite bands' music videos, there's a great event coming to the that opens up the video vault.
The Oct. 25 event at the Toms River branch offers some rarities of big names' videos, even on obsolete formats and as recorded on French television, of all places.
Spike Priggen will bring just a sample of his library of music videos that he's collected, in a special viewing event.

Among them are videos on Scopitone format. The short-lived medium was a sort of "music video jukebox," a pre-cursor to the modern music video, shot on 16mm film.
The two-hour program ends with some hard to find footage of bands such as The Kinks, Jimi Hendrix, The Yardbirds and Moody Blues, and it's all from French television.
