LIGHTS OUT, POLICE IN: Route 37, Route 166 And Hooper A Mess

Police come out to help as traffic backs up a long way at Toms River's most notorious intersection

Traffic snaked around the jughandles Monday afternoon as police choreographed long traffic lines that dominated Toms River's most notorious interesections.

Cars and trucks made right turns in left-turn lanes, snuck through parking lots, went the wrong way down one-way roads and found ways around by any means necessary.

Despite the fact that Governor Christie and Jersey Central Power and Light said they expected power to be restored, lights were flickering - and, eventually, turned off - at the Crystal Diner and nearby intersection Monday afternoon.
