Police: Woman Fell Under Truck, Was Run Over

July 5 incident in Route 9 hotel parking lot

A woman fell under a truck and was run over during an argument with the vehicle’s occupant in a hotel parking lot on July 5, police said.

A 34 year-old Bayville resident was struck by a Ford F-150 truck shortly after midnight on July 5 in the Ramada Inn, Route 9, said Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.

The police chief said the victim and the driver were engaged in an argument just prior to the incident.

“The victim apparently was involved with a civil argument with a passenger of the vehicle who just prior to the accident told the 61 year old driver from Lakewood to leave,” Mastronardy said in an email. “As the Ford F-150 was leaving the victim approached the car pounding on the windows and then fell underneath the vehicle and was run over.”

The victim was transported to Jersey Shore Trauma Center, Mastronardy said. Officer David Bartoshek is investigating.
