Some Disaster Centers to Close by May 2

The deadline to apply for assistance through SBA is Wednesday, May 1

Several disaster centers in New Jersey will cease operations due to a steady decrease in activity, the U.S. Small Business Administration recently announced.

The SBA is encouraging those impacted by Hurricane Sandy to visit the centers before they close. The deadline to return applications for physical damage is Wednesday, May 1.

Center locations and scheduled closing dates are listed below.

Atlantic County
Margate Municipal Building
9001 Winchester Ave., Margate City
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday
Closing, Thursday, May 2 at close of business 

Cape May County
Cape May County Chamber of Commerce
13 Crest Haven Rd., Cape May Courthouse
Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday
Closing: Tuesday, April 30 at close of business

Hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Friday; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday

Sandy victims are reminded that they can also apply online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via SBA’s secure website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.

Disaster loan information and application forms may be obtained by calling the SBA’s Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 or by sending an email to disastercustomerservice@sba.gov. Loan applications can be downloaded from www.sba.gov. Completed applications should be mailed to: U.S. Small Business Administration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155.

The filing deadline to return applications for physical damage is now May 1. The deadline to return economic injury applications is Wednesday, July 31.
