Suspect in Lakewood Cop Killing Faces Second Murder Charge

Jahmell W. Crockham, 19, is facing a second first degree murder charge. A Howell man is also charged as a co-conspirator with the shooting death.

Accused Lakewood cop killer Jahmell W. Crockham, 19, is facing a second first-degree murder charge after being indicted by an Ocean County grand jury for the slaying of Justin Williams, who was gunned down Oct. 15 in Lakewood.

Indicted along with , of Edgewood Court, Lakewood, was Darius J. Johnson, 20, of Charles Street, Howell. Both are accused of conspiring to kill Williams, murdering him, having a gun for an illegal purpose, and having the firearm without a permit. Both are being held in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $2 million bail.

Police found Williams dead of gunshot wounds on Westwood Avenue in Lakewood in what they believe was a revenge slaying.

Crockham was by another Ocean County grand jury for the murder of Lakewood Police Officer Christopher Matlosz on Jan. 14. He allegedly shot Matlosz to death after the lawman pulled alongside him in his patrol car.

Crockham was arrested two days later in Camden following a massive manhunt. He was charged with illegally having a pistol for an unlawful purpose when he shot Matlosz. Bail on that charge is $5 million.

Also indicted in March and accused of hindering his apprehension by deceiving police in Lakewood and investigators for the Ocean County Prosecutor was , 27, of Lena Avenue, Toms River.
