Ocean County GOP Picks MacArthur For Third District Congressional Seat, Report Says

GOP bypasses local candidates, Lonegan


Former Randolph Mayor Tom MacArthur on Wednesday night secured the influential endorsement and support of the Ocean County Republican Party in his bid to be the GOP nominee for Congress from New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District, beating out Tea Party favorite Steve Lonegan and favorite son candidate Mo Hill, a Toms River councilman and retired Navy rear admiral, according to the Asbury Park Press.

Berkeley Township Council President James J. Byrnes was also a contender for the seat to be vacated by Jon Runyan.
