Around the country, there are
three images associated with the Jersey Shore in the aftermath of two
disasters. First, the submerged roller coaster from Seaside Heights (Ocean
County) and the half standing home in Union Beach (Monmouth County) following
Sandy. Then, the popular Seaside Boardwalk erupting in flames on September 12,
destroying more than 50 businesses in its path. How can "marketing"
aid in recovery?

According to Jackeline
Mejias-Fuertes, Director of the NJSBDC at Brookdale Community College, serving
small businesses in Monmouth and Ocean counties, "We’ve found that many of
the Sandy-impacted business owners whom we counsel are most interested in two
main areas – marketing and finance. On the financial side, they are getting
their businesses back in order which may include insurance, loans, grants and some
creative financing. Yet we are finding that almost equally as important to them
is marketing and how to enhance their presence and create a plan for going
forward, unlike what they’ve done in the past. There’s no better person to
address this than Seth Godin.”

Godin, who has generously
donated his time for this Sandy assistance discussion, is the author of 17
books that have been bestsellers around the world and have been translated into
more than 35 languages. You might be familiar with his books Linchpin, Tribes,
The Dip and Purple Cow.  In addition to his writing and speaking, Seth is
founder of squidoo.com, a fast growing, easy to use website. His blog (which
you can find by typing "seth" into Google) is one of the most popular
in the world.

Godin will speak about
marketing in a post-Sandy business world not only in terms of recovery but
thriving and excelling by looking at their business with fresh eyes and a new
approach to connecting with both their existing customers and potential
customer base. Godin will provide insight into how to strengthen your business
enterprise by thinking and acting boldly, building and leading your
"tribe" and creating real value in your business and personal brand.
Attendees can engage with Seth though a Q&A addressing the specific needs
of the post-Sandy small business owner.
