Caregiving for the Person with Dementia: Things You Need to Know

Alzheimer's Association to Present Free, Half-Day Workshop at Southern Ocean Medical Center


The Alzheimer’s Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter will present a community education workshop, “Caregiving for the Person with Dementia: Things You Need to Know” at the Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, New Jersey on Saturday, February 15, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  There is no fee for attending this program, but registration is required to reserve seating and materials.  Those interested in attending should call 973.586.4300 to pre-register and for further information or driving directions. 

Program Description

Annually, the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter presents half-day conferences for caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia in various counties throughout the state.  They are typically among the most attended programs the Association offers, for free, to the community.  This program – the Ocean County Caregiver Conference – is designed to address many of the complex issues and difficult decisions facing families and caregivers of individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.  Topics will include: current knowledge of the disease process, diagnosis of the disease, and managing caregiver stress. Attendees will learn the importance of advanced legal planning, common tools for health decisions and estate planning. Resource information for the caregiver, and the ones they help support and care for, will also be discussed.
