Vegans Eat Cardboard and Other Myths, Debunked - Book Discussion, Q&A, and Signing

Are vegans weird, nutrient-deprived hippies who parade around in bamboo socks and sport "Meat is Murder" bumper stickers?

Not all of them. In fact, most are pretty normal, super-healthy people.

Still, Lisa McComsey's story is unlikely. Come hear how a one-time lover of hot-fudge sundaes, pizza, and buttercream-frosted cupcakes goes vegan, cold turkey, and comes to co-write a book, The Vegan Cheat Sheet, about her experience.

The Vegan Cheat Sheet is a fun, portable read for the vegan curious who may be (as the authors once were) too "chicken" to eliminate meat fish, dairy, and eggs from their diets. The book shows how easy, healthful, and delicious it is to go vegan and provides everything readers need to get started, including: shopping lists; restaurant, nutrient, socializing, and travel guides; 100+ oil-free recipes; 21-day meal plan; party menus; and practical tips.

Published by Perigee Press, a division of Penguin Group (USA), the book launched nationally in July 2013. Lisa, an Island Heights resident and marathoner, is a freelance writer and marketing consultant and serves as copy director of Allure magazine. Co-author Amy Cramer is a renowned vegan chef and owner of Vegan Eats, a line of vegan foods sold in supermarkets. The authors met while working at People magazine.

Join Lisa for a fun, interactive book discussion, Q&A, and signing on Saturday, September 14 at 2 P.M. at Brick Barnes and Noble. For more information, visit www.vegancheatsheet.com or www.barnesandnoble.com.
