Children's Specialized Hospital Celebrates New Outpatient Center

Children’s Specialized Hospital, the largest pediatric rehabilitation hospital in the country, today announced the grand opening of its newest outpatient center located at 368 Lakehurst Road in Toms River.  Patients, family and staff will celebrate the new center at a special ribbon-cutting ceremony and site tour on Friday, July 22.  Children’s Specialized Hospital president and CEO Amy B. Mansue will address attendees before giving a tour of the new facility. Mayor Thomas F. Kelaher of the Township of Toms River will be in attendance to show his support of the hospital.

Children’s Specialized Hospital has served the Toms River community for the past 25 years.  Relocating from its site on Main Street in downtown Toms River, the Lakehurst Road center boasts a spacious therapy gym, private breakout rooms, and an outdoor playground. The bigger space and having more staff allows the hospital to better serve children with special needs. Already, the hospital has been able to treat an additional 120 children from the Toms River area.  The hospital continues to maintain its Stevens Road care center, allowing both facilities to play an integral role in aiding the 4,000 Ocean and Monmouth County families currently served by Children’s Specialized Hospital.

The center offers physical, speech, and occupational therapy, plus psychology and neuropsychology services. The hospital treats children with autism, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, developmental delays, and other effects from birth, life-changing injuries, or illnesses.
