Missing Island Heights Dog That Went Viral on Social Media Is Found

Yorkie got away from its owner on Christmas night

A missing Yorkshire terrier from Island Heights that became the focus of widespread social media sharing has been found, its owner said.

Lola, who was on medication she must take daily, got loose around 7 p.m. Christmas Day, prompting devastated family members to put up posters around Island Heights and Toms River, and turn to social media for help. The plea for locals to keep an eye out for Lola was widely shared in the area.

The dog was ultimately found early Friday, said William Boyer, Jr., the dog owners' son, in a social media message to Toms River Patch.

Great news, we saw the many fliers in Is. Heights & vicinity and kept our eyes peeled, we were hoping the dog was found!

I wish I could get that kind of help in looking for my dog. The dog, a small Shitzu type with black and white hair, matted in places, was picked up by a young couple on December 22 near the Harmony Bank on Route 37 in Toms River. They drove what has been described as a blue Chevrolet. If you know anyone like that with such a dog, please contact Larry at 848-482-1049. The don needs her medicine.
