Toms River Getting $1.03 Million FEMA Grant To Help Fix Ortley Beach Roads

Toms River will receive a federal grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in the amount of $1,027,809.89, U.S. Rep. Jon Runyan, R-Ocean, Burlington, has announced.

These funds will go towards the use of contractors for the repair of Ortley Beach Roads damaged during Hurricane Sandy.

The funding is being provided under the authority of section 406 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.

okay, let's be positive about this windfall that the entrenched Toms River government has so often demonstrated in the past that they can spend wisely - first off, what contractors or companies that aren't politically connected do you think might be able to offer the best bids for this road reconstruction? - next, will there be a requirement in bidding that the winning bid must go to the contractor that is doing the work or will the bid winner be sub-contracting the work out to those more knowledgeable about construction projects? - also, will there be any protection from unforeseen cost overruns, and if not, will the county step in to pick up the difference? - finally, with only a million to work with, which street on which block in Ortley will be rebuilt?

ha, ha, ha,ha, a million and thirty thousand dollars. By the time all the usual skimming takes place Ortley will be lucky if Maruca tells Lou Amaruso to send over a street sweeper for a few hours!

Trying to get exposure for the 4/28/14 deadline for FEMA claims. FEW knows this deadline is approaching. After 4/28 you will NOT be able to open and correct claims. While it is 18 months later some folks are just coming to and realizing what they have to do. We really need help making this known, Christie has asked for an extension BUT it doesn’t look good. Menendez favors this as well. I thought if we could get folks informed, maybe the deadline would be extended. We really need this. I’ve been working with a public adjustor and he has been getting A LOT of money for people. THESE people should get their fair payment. I have been working on Sandy since Day 1 and WE NEED this extension! Any help is appreciated! Thank you contact: Booker/Christie/Papers
