The Appreciation from Students

A Note From A Taxpayer Thankful Student

I can't say ive seen alot of articles without some random mention of the Toms River BOE being corrupted or some other similar complaint. What bothers me though, is that some people who comment on these articles do not understand school life, or the condition these schools are in.

I remember in my freshman year, we had a "Past meets Present" article run in our school newspaper (The Chieftain). We had 5 graduates from the Toms River High School  class of 1951 come into present day Toms River South and compare it to their days in the building. Simply enough they said it was different, not only in culture, but crowd wise!

The truth is, TRS is a very crowded school, and although some may not think so, many of the students appreciate the taxpayers for giving us the exspansions we have. The students so appreciate the taxpayers more than anything. I know i've changed since joining TRS activites, and developed. I've learned respect, the importance of education.

I am also proud of our schools history (minus the rats). The students who appreciate the taxpayers could never be more thankful for them. Those who are appreciative though, feel as if they are being attacked by those they appreciate. Example, on a Patch article someone commented "the little darlings from south", in a rude way. I'm not denying that there's a few rotten kids in our schools, but it seems THEY are used to describe the school district students. Not the respectful, and grateful ones.

I'm writing this because I am thankful for what we have. And I am thankful for YOU, the taxpayer that gives me the chances to explore my potential. And so, from the RESPECTABLE, APPRECIATIVE, and mostly THANKFUL students from the Toms River School District...THANK YOU.
