Disrespect of Active Duty Troops on the Rise

In my last post, I wrote about my Bestfriend/Brother who is in the United States Army, and some of the disrespect he received while in public. It is rather disturbing that both on the internet, and on the streets, active duty troops and veterans are being harassed and/or being grossly disrespected. The one incident which still makes me fiery is the incident i discussed outside of a 711, in which a man who claimed to be a "veteran", but could produce no id, could not name what branch of the military, what years, or what ranking he was, or give an MOS, decided to harass my friend, who is active in the U.S Army. Telling a soldier to get rid of their uniform? Absolutely, without a doubt, disgusting to the lowest standards of society. Harassing a Soldier, is the lowest standard of society. A soldier is a soldier, no matter what, and they leave their families for large amounts of time to defend us, and the best "Thanks" people can give is to treat them like garbage?

Fortunately, as I said in my previous post, that was the only incident of large disrespect that occurred, and most of the time, he was treated with respect. What disturbs me, is that disrespect of a military soldier, is not rare. While we are fortunate that the support outranks the negatives, it still shocks me how some people treat men and women in uniform. Another thing i've noticed are Civilians telling Military members how to wear their uniforms (Yes, I'm being serious). Civilians are telling members of the Military how to wear their uniforms....and getting mad when the soldiers do not comply. So in other words, they go to the Middle East, get shot at, come home, and get shouted at by a complete stranger because he/she doesn't like something about their uniform. For whatever reason, this seems to occur in Seaside Heights alot, based on what i've heard from Veterans, and other Military members. It doesn't end their....now we go to the most nortiuous place of disrespect....the internet. As i'm writing this, I'm looking at the US Army's facebook page. I've looked at two family reunion photos, one of them, commentators  are attacking a soldier for not having a deployment patch on, and in another which shows a man proposing to his wife who is in the Army, the commentors are insulting her MOS. There is a problem in America right now, and that problem is us taking our freedom for granted. Freedom is not free, it costs thousands of Americans, who have decided to dedicate their live to preserving freedom, to leave their families, from anywhere, from 6 months to a year, go to dangerous places, and be shot at every day. And we treat them like crap, because something is wrong with their uniform. The incident that occurred outside the 711 in Seaside Heights, opened my eyes to the disrespect our soldiers receive. People like that who harass, insult, and disrespect our troops, are the lowest standard of society. No matter your opinion, a soldier is a soldier, respect them.
