Geriatric Specialty Physicians Join Toms River Based Medical Practice

Diane Verga, M.D. of Hooper Avenue Adult Care Medical Associates welcomes Benjamin Lessig, D.O., and Ivan Sabio, M.D. to the Toms River based practice. Dr.  Lessig and Dr. Sabio each bring extensive experience with adult and geriatric patients and offer the convenience of home visits.

Dr. Sabio is an internist who sees adult patients with a variety of illnesses. “I try to manage anything and everything – including head colds, sinusitis, COPD, asthma, and heart conditions,” Dr. Sabio says. One of Dr. Sabio’s particular interests is treating arthritis conditions.

Dr. Sabio is board certified in internal medicine and brings valuable experience in providing personalized care to residents in Ocean county. His knowledge and positive approach to health stems from his education at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and his post-medical school training at the University Hospital at Stonybrook, where he completed both an internship and his residency training. Dr. Sabio also completed a fellowship in geriatrics at New York University.

Dr. Lessig completed his medical school training at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and his post-medical training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He then completed a fellowship in geriatrics at the University of Rochester. Some of Dr. Lessig’s areas of interest are Alzheimer’s disease/dementia related conditions and end-of-life care.

Dr. Lessig has been practicing in Toms River, NJ since 2005 before joining with Dr. Verga, and has extensive experience treating patients in an outpatient setting as well as in the long term care and assisted living facilities in Ocean County. Dr. Lessig also has been involved various organizations to provide geriatric education, caregiver support and patient care coordination in Ocean County.

Hooper Avenue Adult Care Medical Associates is located at 1416 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ 08753, and can be reached by calling 848-223-7120. Daily, evening and Saturday hours are available, and same-day appointments are offered. Patients requiring hospitalization are admitted to Ocean Medical Center.
