Community Update

Toms River, NJ (December 16, 2013) – For those of you who have set a New Year’s resolution to be better with managing your finances or to own a house here’s a Money Smart series for you. The Children’s Home Society of New Jersey’s Ocean County Family Success Center is collaborating with PNC Bank to provide a free financial education series in Toms River, NJ. The series workshops will be presented at Church of the Harvest on 2119 Whitesvilles Rd. from 6 – 7 p.m. on the following dates Thursday, Dec. 19 (“Money Matters”); Tuesday, Jan. 14 (“To Your Credit”); and Tuesday, February 11 (“Prevent Financial Education Exploitation”). Refreshments will be provided and attendees will receive free take-away materials from each workshop.


The Money Smart program is a series led by PNC Bank representatives who will guide learners through a curriculum developed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). The FDIC is an agency that preserves confidence in the U.S. banking systems by insuring deposits. Learners will start with the basics of tracking expenses and budgeting money to managing credit and the process of owning a home.

About the Ocean County Family Success Center

The Ocean County Family Success Center is the third Family Success Center to be opened and managed by The Children’s Home Society of New Jersey. State funding is provided through a competitive grant awarded by the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, Division of Prevention and Community Partnerships.
