Letter: AARP and Obamacare

Resident explains viewpoint on possible Medicare impacts

Letter to the editor as submitted by Toms River resident Joseph Lypowy:

AARP has launched new political ads saying to contact them to get the true facts about the new Obamacare taxes. They claim that there is a lot of misinformation on the subject and that they are the only source  for accurate information. I wonder if they’re going to tell the public that the reason they act as a propaganda tool for Obamacare is because they are one of the biggest to profit from it? AARP is the biggest  seller of supplemental Medicare insurance in the country. What Obamacare does is reduce and ration the amount a coverage to Middle Class Medicare recipients and take the savings from this theft to give free coverage to illegal aliens and expand services to the welfare class. AARP then rakes in windfall profits from its expanded sales of insurance.

The Democrats use the insurance companies as whipping boys to propagandize their little wealth redistribution scheme, while all the time being in bed with the insurance companies and helping to create monopolies for their favorite pet companies. I have been eligible to join AARP for the past five years and I wouldn’t join it if they paid me. Even their company colors are the same as the Communists, red.  There are several alternative retiree organizations that have sprung up in recent years which will do more than be sales pitch men for supplemental insurance and helping to raid your Medicare Dollars which you have paid into for many years, and taking away your Medicare benefits while giving it to criminals who have paid nothing into it.

This is ludicrous! Mr. Lypowy's letter is full of misinformation--scare tactics and lies that the GOP and Fox News have inundated seniors with so that they can't even make a rational decision. There is NO plan to reduce or ration the amount of coverage a Medicare recipient gets. As for rationing--there has always been rationing in all aspects of healthcare, from the medications covered to the procedures--it was just a different name--denial. In addition, the GOP has always been in bed with the Ins. Cos and would like to step out of the Medicare program altogether. The plan is to hand you a voucher and send you out to private insurers, whereby the value of the voucher will be far lower than what you need to spend for a decent policy, thereby forcing the recipient to make up the difference. Wake up Mr. Lypowy!

Seniors save money with the President's Healthcare Act (Obamacare) That's a fact then can be confirmed. But here's what you can't confirm from Ryan & Romney: what they will cut from V.A. Benefits, Social Security, Nursing Home Medicaid Payments, Medicare, etc. A $900 billion dollar cut in domestic program is in Ryan's budget approved by ALL Republicans in Congress ! GET THE FACTS FROM RYAN & ROMNEY BEFORE THEY HAVE YOUR VOTE !!!!

It's so sad that people keep drinking the kool aid. I'm tired of my taxes going to people for benefits they don't deserve. Example immigrants...the legal kind...collect SSI when they are older though they've never worked here a day in their lives....along with Medicaid that gives them better benefits than Medicare provides for the citizens who have worked and paid into it... so yes...please get your facts about the give aways from other than political sites and think for yourself

Joseph is right on. Obama care takes 750 billion out of medicare.Remember Nancy Pelosi said,"we don't know what's in the bill until we pass it".We are starting to see how it's paid. A real estate tax on certain homes, your FICA in your paycheck will now have a third tax added to it and a few others. You don't give free heath care without someone paying for it Pelosi got wavers for many California businesses who realize it will hurt their bottom line. We already see companies eliminating full time positions to avid this "tax" as John Edwards calls it.. AARP will make millions along with United Heath care for supplemental policies.
