SHRAP Grant Deadline

The SHRAP (Sandy Homeowner/Renter Assistance Program) grant will be closing.  Ocean County appointments currently being booked into October will be honored, but the initial appointment date must be made by June 30th.  The delay in appointments is due to the need for recertification meetings each of the six months while receiving the grant money. 

The grant helps with mortgage, rent and utility payments up to 6 months or $15,000.  It also within that amount offers replacement appliances, bedding and furniture. 

Some have not wanted to apply yet, because they have no place to store appliances or they want to wait to use the rental assistance while elevating.  It is best to get in the queue for an appointment and hope that in four or five months the assistance can be utilized.

In Ocean County SHRAP is being administered by Ocean Inc. at three locations in Brick, Toms River, and Manahawkin.  For further information about locations, grant specific information or other Sandy resources please contact Operation HOPE at 732-451-2068.
