What Did You Think of the Fire Referendum?

Our Question of the Day

The referendum is over, and but what are your thoughts on how the voting was handled?

The polls numbered one, down from three in the district as are opened during the annual fire election in February. Yet with only serving as a polling place, the voter turnout was signicantly higher compared to

Why do you think more people managed to come to vote on a Thursday in December than did on a Saturday in February?

How would a generator at the PD or at the schools, power the equipment where they had planned to put this generator?
Mr. ? December 17, 2011 at 11:02 PM
You are right GaryNJ85. It failed and you can blame that on Kubeil and company. The generator failed by only 30 votes. Interesting that P.O'd voters were just plain pi**ed, and voted no. it also shows how many firemen voted, and voted no on the consolidation, because you know they voted yes for the generator. But don't fret, as it will be included in the budget for 2012 in February. Probably as a separate vote on that ballot. Just hope that budget is appropriate and fiscally prudent and the administration plays no games. It would be interesting if it failed and would then be put before the Council.

Patch, please do a follow-up story so poor Councilman/Fire Administrator/political hack Kubiel can blame somebody else for HIS terrible job of trying to put one over on voters and taxpayers. I can't wait for his latest "spin." Even the fire chiefs, firefighters and Mayor are hanging him out to dry by himself on this FIASCO. Some important questions remain: How much did the special (A.K.A. sneaky) election cost taxpayers? How much did Kubiel's lawyer charge to do the preliminary property acquisition negotiations and ballot wording? How much does Kubiel earn for his second part-time job as administrator? How much does each of the 3 fire commissioners get? Are they members of the Republican Club? Just a coincidence, I'm sure.
