100 Pieces of Decking Stolen from Yacht Club

Police believe materials taken between Saturday and Tuesday

A yacht club in the Dover Beaches North section of Toms River had 100 pieces of decking stolen from it sometime between Saturday and Tuesday, police said this evening.

Bay Villa Yacht Club, on Route 35 South, had the Trex deck boards ordered to replace a walkway at the facility, said Chief Michael Mastronardy.

Valued at more than $5,000, 100 4-foot-long boards were taken, but the 16’ support boards were left behind, Mastronardy said.

Police believe the suspects, no description released, took the materials sometime between Saturday and Tuesday.

Mastronardy said the decking was for a routine project and not related to storm damage from Hurricane Irene. He said the deck boards are a bit unusual in that they are four-foot lengths, where most lumber is sold at longer lengths.
