100 Pieces of Decking Stolen from Yacht Club

Police believe materials taken between Saturday and Tuesday

A yacht club in the Dover Beaches North section of Toms River had 100 pieces of decking stolen from it sometime between Saturday and Tuesday, police said this evening.

Bay Villa Yacht Club, on Route 35 South, had the Trex deck boards ordered to replace a walkway at the facility, said Chief Michael Mastronardy.

Valued at more than $5,000, 100 4-foot-long boards were taken, but the 16’ support boards were left behind, Mastronardy said.

Police believe the suspects, no description released, took the materials sometime between Saturday and Tuesday.

Mastronardy said the decking was for a routine project and not related to storm damage from Hurricane Irene. He said the deck boards are a bit unusual in that they are four-foot lengths, where most lumber is sold at longer lengths.

Toms River Cpl. Ron Rader is investigating, and anyone with information can call Captain Bruce Burgess at 732-349-0150 ext 1200.

An old saying. " if you don't want it taken....you got to nail it down!" LOL

Another example of the barrier islands paying more in taxes and receiving less is service (no full time police).

I just priced that online, I can get 1x5 1/2x16' for $40 each, that would give me 100 4' boards for only $1000, unless it was some super special trex deck thay REALLLLY over paid, i wish they would shop around a little before spending my money
