2 Arrested, Cocaine Seized in Winteringham Village Police Raid

Authorities credit residents with information leading to investigation

Police arrested two Toms River residents and recovered cocaine and cash after an early-morning raid Friday.

Zahid Evans, 23, and Jihad Burns, 20, of Winteringham Village were charged with possession of cocaine and possession with intent to distribute after Toms River authorities and State Police searched two Village units.

Chief Michael Mastronardy said six ounces of cocaine, a digital scale, marijuana and $14,768 in cash were seized.

Superior Court Judge Wendel Daniels set bail at $200,000 for Evans and $100,000 for Burns, no 10 percent option allowed.

More than 30 officers β€” from the New Jersey State Police Crime Suppression Unit, Toms River K-9 units and members of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office β€” participated in the raid.
