65 Bags Of Heroin Seized From Home

Two charged with drug offenses in Monday raid

Police said a raid on a Toms River home allegedly seized several dozen bags of heroin, as well as a handgun, ammunition and drug paraphrenalia at a residence equipped with a police scanner and surveillance cameras.

Captain Jack Sramaty said executed the no-knock warrant at the Bash Avenue single-family home, off of Fischer Boulevard yesterday.

The raid was the result of an ongoing investigation of heroin in Ocean County, and officials allegedly discovered the house had a monitor system, with cameras outside the home to see who might be approaching.

"You could watch the monitors from two rooms in the house," Sramaty said. "The cameras outside were positioned as such to see if you were walking up the front door."

Sramaty said officials found an emergency police scanner and a pitbull at 116 Bash Avenue.

Police seized approximately 65 bags of heroin, a Smith & Wesson .38 caliber handgun and ammunition. Police also allegedly seized assorted drug paraphernalia associated with drug distribution including packaging materials and cutting agents.

The two occupants of the home, Robert Callahan, 31, and Michelle Brown, 23, were charged as a result of the raid.

Callahan was charged with possession of heroin under one half ounce, possession of heroin under one half ounce with intent to distribute, maintaining a fortified structure while committing a CDS offense, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm during the commission of a CDS offense. Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels, set Callahan’s bail at $350,000 cash only.

Brown was charged with possession of heroin under one half ounce, possession of heroin under one half ounce with intent to distribute, maintaining a fortified structure while committing a CDS offense, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm during the commission of a CDS offense. Brown’s bail was set at $150,000 no ten percent.

The Toms River Police SWAT Team and the Toms River Police K-9 Unit assisted in the investigation and the execution of the warrant.
