I agree kathy. Theres a lot of complaining about taxes and stuff by many patch posters, but its worth every penny to keep the town nice and services there at a moments notice. We need more grateful people around here.

And they work Holidays , thanks to all who do these fantastic deeds for your fellow man. Firemen do still make house calls, do you know ANY Doctors who still do ??? That's like finding a shoe maker today, just as scarce ! Cobbler's Wanted !
just me May 14, 2012 at 02:34 AM
Actually 1stCav, I DO know some doctors who make house calls. Mostly to seniors who have difficulty getting to the doctors office. As for.the cobbler .... you're on your own. :)

There used to be a shoemaker in Toms River by the old Bradlees. Then he moved to Charles Street. I don't know if he is still there anymore.

They should stop using Fischer Blvd as a race track and maybe the emergency workers won't have to work so much. I hear the motorcycles all summer racing up and down Fischer from my house. And please, anyone who rides, don't come on here telling me how it's only the gears winding out that I'm hearing. I ride, and I drive and I KNOW what going fast sounds (and feels) like. Every time I hear these crotch rockets flying up the road I always wonder if they're going to find that kid splattered in the road and when. It's very tempting to let out the throttle, but when you are not the only person on the road you risk your life.

Yes, it's true~ my brother has an awesome caring doctor here in Toms River named Bernard Wayman that makes house calls to his disabled patients, and we wouldn't trade him for all the tea in China~ he's the best!

Ok. I'm going to say that I have lived on the corner of fischer/Fairview for only 3 months and a lot of people run the stop sign, do u turns like no ones buisness. That poor man was only ridding like a lot of people do just to enjoy themselves. When we saw him crash, it was the most terrifying thing to see. I don't like any kind of motorized bike period. I just hope that he is ok.

The biggest mistake was making Fischer a highway with 4 lanes instead of keeping it the dink of a road it once was.

Yes. Thanks for the E.M.T.s, and thanks for the $1000 bill they sent me including the $14.00 per mile fuel charge for the 6.4 mile ride. To make matters worse, their bills come from a billing center in Voorhees. Where do my taxes go ?
teatleytea May 14, 2012 at 12:50 PM
Jon, Just to let you know that if you insurance company does not pay for the Toms River EMS bill and you are a taxpayer of Toms Rive Township all you have to do is call the billing center to find out why you insurance company denied they claim and inform them that you are a Toms River resident and you will not have to pay due to the fact that our taxes help pay their salaries.

Patch should write an article explaining that -- or maybe one of the airheads who write the mayor-council columns could do it to give us some useful info for a change.
Can't shut me up May 14, 2012 at 06:06 PM
YES.... teatleytea is right. If you're as TR resident they take your insurance and washes the rest. I found this out when I was sick and TR-EMT came to my house. The bill was $1.4K (Cheaper the MONOC) If your NOT a TR resident....oh well. Unfortunatly the bill doesn't explain this and should.

Kristen, thank you for the kind words. My husband will be ok, although not for a while. Nice to see someone not jump to conclusions. He is a father of 3 children who has been riding responsibly for close to 25 years. He had a malfunction with his motorcycle. Those of you who left comments without any facts to back it should be ashamed of yourself.

The biggest mistake on Fischer was making those suicide turning lanes. No one knows how to use them. People think they are a travel lane until they can get into the flow of traffice. If they read the signs, and looked at the arrows painted in those lanes, they would see they are strictly for turning off of Fischer, not for turning out of side streets until they can make it to the real travel lanes. I am glad the motorcycle rider is okay. I have also seen people driving like maniacs to get into church on time for mass. Leave a few minutes earlier and it wouldn't be such a madhouse outside of the church!

@ Jill Stelman- Just to clarify that my comments were not toward your husband. I'm just letting people know this strip of road has and is used as a race strip since they widened it some years ago. I'm glad he's going to be OK. I will also add I see way too many car drivers riding too close to bikers. Too many don't know how to give a little more room and drive safely.

Jill, My prayers to your family, so sorry to see this. Ignore the ignorant comments from people that do not know him and are judging. Anne
Securevelope May 15, 2012 at 03:04 PM
Please tell us Anne, where are the comments judging the man who got hit? I see most of the comments about paying for ambulance services and doctors who make house calls.

I think those comments were flagged as inappropriate.
