Another Indictment For Man Charged With Burglary of Toms River Police Chief's Home

Beachwood man indicted for Brick burglary, theft, and Toms River burglary

A Beachwood man faces burglary and theft charges for a break-in in Brick, according to an Ocean County grand jury indictment.

Justin L. Lovgren, 26, of Spray Avenue, is charged with breaking into a woman’s home on Bryn Mawr Drive on April 16 and stealing jewelry and prescription medication. Lovgren is being held in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River in lieu of $75,000 bail.

Lovgren has also been accused of  of Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy two days before the Brick incident.

In the case of the Brick robbery, a resident called police after he witnessed a man dressed in a hooded sweatshirt and grey sweatpants walking from the rear yard of a neighboring property whose owners were not home at the time. The resident confronted the man, who said he was in the neighborhood looking for the home where a party was to take place later in the day, Capt. John Rein said at the time.

After the man fled on foot, the neighbor called police.

Brick police officers picked up Lovgren about a half-hour later and charged him in the robbery, Rein said. Jewelry that was allegedly stolen by Lovgren was recovered by officers at the Riviera Garden Apartments on Brick Boulevard, and in the bushes outside the Drum Point Arms complex, across the street.
