Arson at Old Freehold Road Home Under Investigation

Home, which is under construction, was not damaged by two small fires Saturday

Toms River police are investigating an apparent arson at a home under construction on Old Freehold Road.

Authorities found that two small fires were started at the 1871 Old Freehold Road home property on Saturday, one in the rear yard and another in the basement, said Chief of Police Michael Mastronardy.

"There was no damage and police are looking for two white male juveniles that were on bikes who were observed in the area just prior to the fire being found," the chief said.

Mastronardy said that one of the males was wearing a white T-shirt, had long dark hair and was riding a bicycle with raised handle bars.

Officer Robert Westfall  and Detective Thomas Dimichele are investigating, and the Pleasant Plains fire chief was on scene and discovered the basement fire, Mastronardy said.
