Bah Humbug! Thieves Stealing Christmas Decorations in Silverton
There's a Christmas decoration bandit on the loose in Toms River.
Township police are investigating the thefts, which occurred over the weekend, said Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.
A Beechtree Drive resident's security camera captured a sedan pulling up to a home around 4 a.m. Saturday, at which time two back seat passengers got out and took several wooden choir boy decorations that are over 30 years old, said Mastronardy.
Then at 11 p.m. Saturday, a neighbor witnessed two males lift a snowman display from a yard on Silver Bay Road, the chief said.
They placed the snowman in an older silver SUV – potentially a Nissan Pathfinder – turned off their lights and fled the area westbound on Silver Bay.
Officers are also investigating a third theft that occurred on 13th street in Silverton where two metal ornaments of Jesus and Joseph were removed from a lawn.
Investigating the thefts are officers Ron Bayer and Frank Moschella, said Mastronardy. The surveillance video was not available, he said.
