Barnegat Police Arrest Three On Heroin Charges, Including 80-Year-Old Man
by Patricia A. Miller
Three residents - including an 80-year-old man - were arrested recently on a variety of drug charges by the Barnegat Police Narcotics Unit, Lt. Keith Germain said.
Police made the arrests at 4:07 p.m. on March 25 near 21 South Main Street, shortly after they spotted Charles Eble 3rd, 39, who they knew had $4,500 in outstanding warrants out of several towns.
The detectives found 46 wax paper folds of heroin on Eble. They then spoke with Valerian Zieniewicz, 80 and Bethany Park, 34, and determined that Zieniewicz had purchased heroin from Eble, which he then distributed to Park, Germain said.
The three - all from Barnegat - were arrested and taken to police headquarters.
Zieniewicz was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, distribution of heroin (all 3rd degree), and wandering to obtain a controlled dangerous substance, Germain said
Park was charged with wandering to obtain a controlled dangerous substance.
Both Zieniewicz and Park were released, pending a court date.
Eble was charged with two counts of possession of heroin, two counts of possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, and one count of distribution of heroin (all 3rd degree). He was lodged in the Ocean County Jail Toms River, in lieu of $50,000 bail, in addition to the $4,500 in warrants.
Zieniewicz' 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe was seized pending forfeiture as the investigation revealed it was used in the commission of a crime.
