'Boot' Didn't Keep Illegally Parked Car in T.R. Lot

Police in Toms River say a driver made off with an illegally parked Oldsmobile – as well as the boot device was that supposed to keep it there in order to be towed.

Accurate Towing reported the theft of a red and yellow tire lock valued at $500, Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said.

The company is authorized to tow unauthorized vehicles from the parking lot of 20 Hospital Drive.

On Saturday the company “booted” a red Oldsmobile at 12:30 p.m. there for illegally parking in the lot. The company then booted another vehicle at 2:30 p.m. while the Oldsmobile was still parked in the lot booted.

Upon checking the lot at 6 p.m., the towers reported, the Oldsmobile and the company's boot were gone.

Officer Louis Taranto is investigating the theft, Mastronardy said.
