Brandishing of Toy Gun Leads to Drug Arrest

Toms River police arrest three on drug charges.

Toms River police got a tip on Saturday about three men flashing a gun as they traveled east toward the beach in a 2003 Honda on Saturday.

Officer Wallace Polhemus found and pulled over the car on Bay Boulevard and Sumner Avenue in Seaside Heights, according to the Toms River Police Department. Polhemus and officers Ryan Quinn and Frank Lauria found several individual bags of what they suspect is marijuana in the vehicle, police said.

And the alleged weapon? An Airsoft pistol.

  • Brian Altomonte, 28, Kearny Avenue, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute  
  • Evander Cruz, 20, Kearny Avenue, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of weapon for unlawful purpose 
  • Juery Diaz, 20, Lewis Avenue, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose
