Brick Woman Uninjured In Toms River Crash

A Brick woman avoided injuries in a single-car accident Monday night on Stevens Road in Toms River.

Catharine Murray, 29, of Eastland Road, was traveling eastbound when her 1994 Nissan left the roadway, struck a utility pole and overturned, Police Chief Michael Mastronardy said.

Murray was able to exit the vehicle and was not injured in the crash, said Mastronardy.

The vehicle eventually caught fire, and was extinguished by the Pleasant Plains Fire Company.

Traffic Safety Officer Dave Bartoshek investigated the accident and issued Murray a summons for a cell phone violation, Mastronardy said.
