A brush fire – unrelated to the massive blaze that is still burning in Beachwood and Berkeley Township – closed a portion of Fischer Boulevard in Toms River on Thursday for about an hour.

The roadway was closed between Yellowbank Road and Hooper Avenue, but reopened between 3:30 and 4 p.m.

"The fire was concentrated to the area of Fischer Blvd. and Pumpshire Avenue on the eastern side of the roadway," said police spokesman Ralph Stocco.

Two sheds in the rear of a home on Pumpshire were damaged by the blaze, Stocco said.

Authorities remained on scene as of 4:30 p.m. however the road had been reopened and the fire is under control, under to Stocco.

Was it necessary to mention that this fire was unrelated to the Beachwood fire?

Scary stuff. Can relate, remember many years ago brush fire happened in East Dover section and my kids were at East Dover School and had to evacuate. Fire spread, got close to our home. Horrible day today with these fires. Thumbs up to all the firefighters, police, etc. who were on the scene......

Gene, people get into paranoid panic-mode and could think there was an arsonist on the loose if they didn't say the fires were unrelated.
