Bus Fire Detours Traffic Near Rte. 166, Rte. 37 Intersection

Toms Fire Companies 1 and 2 called in Saturday night incident

Toms River Police responded to a New Jersey Transit bus that was on fire in the northbound lane of Route 166 near Route 37 at approximately 9 p.m. on Saturday.

Two passengers and the driver exited the bus after realizing the engine comparent was smoking, according to Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.

Toms River Fire Companies 1 and 2 extinguished the fire.

Traffic was detoured off Main Street for about an hour, according to Police Officer David Lazaro.
