Car Crash on Route 70 Near Route 9 in Toms River

Pleasant Plains Fire Company, Toms River Police on scene to extricate

Traffic has slowed on Route 70 near the junction with Route 9 as emergency crews respond to a motor vehicle accident, police said.

Pleasant Plains Fire Company was dispatched for an extrication in an incident in the westbound lanes of Route 70, police said.

The extent of injuries and cause of the accident is unknown in this incident which occurred just before 3 p.m.

Toms River Police said Toms River traffic safety officers are on the scene detouring traffic as crews clean-up and investigate the accident.

The ramp from westbound Route 70 onto Route 9 is partially closed, and the traffic delay at 3:14 p.m. was 10-15 minutes, reported NJ511.org.

The two state roads intersect near the northern border of Toms River, and Route 70 has multiple lanes of westbound traffic, with the incident affecting the Route 9 ramp.
